Etti Naveh-Benjamin dreamt up the idea for Rewriting Realities many years ago. She desired a way to encourage students to express the complexities of culture and identity in their own lives. Thus, this writing and art competition was created to cultivate creative exploration of diversity and to give students a platform to speak out.
Rewriting Realities is now a creative literature, visual art, and digital storytelling competition open to all undergraduates at Mizzou. The competition explores experiences of identity, diversity, and more. Prompts are released in the Fall semester. Cash prizes will be presented to first, second, and third place winners in all three categories: creative literature, visual art and digital storytelling.
